We were away from school last Friday due to the severe storm that forced people to stay in doors and cut power to lots of homes. The following is a piece of writing created from that notification.
STORMY WEATHER HITS WELLLINGTON CITY.
The capital of New Zealand, Wellington was hit by a massive storm last week. Power was cut of to thousands of residents and many people evacuated to safer places. Trees were knocked over cutting off power to many people and garages came apart, falling over neighbours fences and flying tiles damaging other people's houses. Some local residents say that this storm was worse than the Wahine storm in 1968, so this is definitely one of the worse storms to hit the capital.
